International and Cultural I/O Psychology
Learn How The World Works
Established in 2010, Florida Institute of Technology’s International and Cultural Concentration in I/O Psychology is one of the only programs of its kind. Through both curricular and co-curricular requirements, students enrolled in the concentration gain knowledge of cultural theory, develop cultural research skills, and broaden their professional network.
The International and Cultural Concentration takes a broad view of culture, defined as a shared system of meaning affiliated with any demographic, geographic, or associative social group. Students enrolled in the concentration can choose to focus their experiences on any combination of topics such as international culture, domestic diversity and inclusion, gender, race, or any other topics that fit the above definition.
The International and Cultural Concentration is offered at both the Master’s and the Ph.D. level, and consists of three broad categories of requirements: coursework, cultural practice, and cultural experience/exposure. These different categories allow students to gain knowledge of and develop skill in cultural I/O psychology through a wide variety of experiences.
Students at Florida Tech do not just learn culture in the classroom; they experience it every day. The I/O program at FIT is comprised of a diverse community of students who collaborate academically, communicating across each others' cultures to find commonalities and share unique experiences. From classroom experiences with students from diverse groups, to study and practicum opportunities abroad, the international concentration at Florida Tech provides students with the acumen and cultural competence to compete in a global economy.
